Introduction. Leslie Aaron Fiedler (b. ) was a provocative American literary and cultural critic, essayist, and fiction writer. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was an outspoken gadfly who, living at the peripheries of literary power, challenged conventional ideas and styles.
